Xmas Tips Question

I've been with Royal Mail for nearly 27 years. I had always worked 6 days and held my own walk, so any tips given to me were mine. Back in the Spring I had a buy down and went onto a 3 day week. Part of the deal was that I would cover 3 different duties and lose my walk.

My question is this; what Xmas tips would you say I am entitled to? Ones handed to me, ones addressed to the postman etc? If a card is hanging out of a letter box with the duty holders name on it I will give to him. I brought the subject up in a WTL session and you could see people thinking, 'huh, they're my tips, because it's my duty.'

i was a reserve for 10 years and covered all the duties in the office ,, the only tips i got were ones that i was specifically told were mine ,, otherwise i would pass it to the duty holder ,, i know that the floater on a rotation in my office gets a cut from all the boys he covers ,,but i doubt its one sixth of there final count ,, its probably all the crappy biscuits and sherry nobody want ,, still at least its something

"3 day week ... cover 3 different duties" is the exact same setup as me.

"ones addressed to the postman" I pass on to the duty holder. It's never been a subject of discussion, it's just what I do. HTH :)

Edit: there's no "divvying up" either -- my conscience is clear, theirs are up to them.

I'm a floater and some of my duty holders give me a cut so I always hand theirs over, the guys that don't give me a cut don't get the same treatment. Unless the person says can you give it to so and so then for the guys that don't share, sorry if you want to be a greedy bstard then so will I.

Tuffers. I am a floater. Everything that is given to me I keep, anything left on doorsteps etc I just leave.

As for getting a share from the other posties in the office, that is never gonna happen where I work, but hey ho its an unexpected bonus anyway.

i have my own duty this year, but last year covered days off on a rural got given 6 tips 3 cards to postie 2 to named postie a a bottle scotch took all round to guys house he took all but gave me the scotch back.................he had over £70 in the 5 cards

whatever tips u get your hands on are yours f**k the duty holder its a dog eat dog world out there they would do the same to you if the boot was on the other foot

Not all of us do, I always gave my floater a 6th of my tips. I only did it because he was a good postie though and never f*cked me over by leaving stuff etc. If he'd been a knob he'd have gotten nothing.

whats a xmas tip ????? don't get feck all on my round, yet the dustbin men and paper kids get tips ......so I don`t help anybody and take all packets back to the office

What if the customer hands you a envelope with the old walk holders name on it , thinkin he's still on job.Do ya go back to van and give him it or keep it as it's bin you're job for over a year now ?
