Comeback from duty today. Emptied the van out. Pretty sure had a recorded missing. Been going over and over in my head but can't be sure. What would be the outcome if I left it behind at the house or lost it or it
fell out my bag etc. Could swear I had one. Rubbish!

Dont worry about it, I've lost loads over the years. "Dont do it again" is the worst that's happened.

Normally what happens is that you have delivered it with the mail. If this is the case its very unlikely that a customer will complain unless they are very anal. If you left a P739 then someone will come in to collect it and there will be no record. In that case you will most likely get a slap on the wrist as you have prob delivered it somewhere.

Unless you are 100% sure you lost it and its a P739 I would say nothing and see what happens.

If you dropped it and its just a letter then there is a good chance it will be put back in a postbox and will re appear in the system over the next few days. thing is i have the image of it in my head but i cant recall if it got delivered or i left a p739.

Aaarghhh..that's a horrible one. I woke up Sunday worrying about a special - it was in the tray in the van and I forgot to add it to my bag on that loop. The driver spotted it and went to the house about 11am. and I couldn't remember if he said the person was in or not. He usually is in my experience. I emptied the van when we got back, he went home beforehand and I put another special through the hatch that I'd 739'd earlier plus a few packets we'd brought back. Then Sunday I awoke thinking "did the driver say the person was in or not?" - then I recalled putting my return special through the hatch and logging the parcels, and then thinking "did the driver's special have one of those white plain SD labels on, if so I may have missed it because not a silver one and left it on the normal parcel shelf."
I spent this morning waiting for the phone call from the manager asking what had happened to it, but never got one so I assume it was delivered OK in the first place on Saturday by the driver or I had actually put it in the hatch properly, or mistakenly put it on the parcels shelf and the enquiry bloke had spotted it and put it through the hatch himself.
But I sympathise as quite often after a stressful day it's easy to suddenly doubt things AFTER you've left work.

i guess if i did leave it on the doorstep or whatever then the customer will find it and either have the hump and complain. or do nothing. however if i did p739 it then they would have a card for a packet they already have.
