Virgin Media Junk Mail

I remember seeing a programme on TV, Watchdog I think, where people were moaning about the sheer amount of unsolicited VM junk mail they receive. I've lost count of the 'quiet' days when suddenly the dreaded VM A4 white envelopes appear and inevitably fill the gaps up in the frame. They used to have the VM red logo on the front, but because most people see that and bin them, they've taken to having their address printed on the back, at the bottom in microscopic lettering to trick people into opening them before they spot it. Obviously us posties can see them easily by recognizing the font they use in the address windows. I worked out that there's no 2-week period when a house doesn't either get one of the A4 envelopes (if they aren't VM customers) or a VM D2D or both. I know they are good customers of RM but I cannot believe this massacre of junk can pay them?

Wonder how much junk mail the tax-avoiding git gets himself? Loads, I hope.

It's not just the incessant unrelenting regularity of this guff that gets my goat; anyone sorting their flats on IPS will have noted how the addresses tend to disappear above the pane in the envelope making sorting them a real pain in the backside...

Same here. Its truely amazing the amount of Junk Virgin send out. One customer complained to me that they didn't want it so I said tell Virgin Media! He did and now the mail instead of coming addressed to him is addressed to the occupier WTF!

I reckon a national paper should do an expose as the amount of unsolicited junk Virgin Media send out (in my view) borders on harrassment.

He puts his face to it does he not? After the alleged allegations earlier this week of one celebrity chef It would not surprise me the onion one will at one time find himself in a pickle with his junk mail habit not that he controls the company day to day!

Yes, the beauty of most A4 mail is that they are a good platform to quickly put mail through a letterbox - not these floppy bast*rds. As you say, it's addressed to the occupier rather than the addressee if they complain. VM mail is like herpes - it can clear up for a week or two then flares up again, and you've got it for life. Aside from D2D junk this is the letter I get most negative comments about. It DOES border on harassment. I worked out that in 12 months I have delivered 2.3kg of VM junk (that's direct mail, D2D and occupier) to each house. That's over one metric tonne. It's a catastrophic waste of resources. I see the sh!te in people's mailboxes for weeks even though they take their normal post out, piled in porches and scattered in the street. I mean what's the point of having it this week AND the VM D2D's?? It's 3 weeks until Christmas and how many of us are going to be thinking about changing our phone/BB/TV service? Either I'm missing something or the cretins that work in marketing really have one lonely brain cell each.

Of course, and people hired to dig holes and fill them repeatedly would say the same thing; but the economy is supposed to be productive. What VM does is produce a mountain of waste.
