You are a reserve! You don't get Saturdays off.

Having had a bit of a falling out with 2 of my DOMS. I find myself back to being a reserve. I'm fine with that, fair enough. But I have been told that I will no longer get the 1 in 4 Saturdays off. Well I do have a issue with that. I was told ages ago by my rep that it was 1 in 4 for those who desire it. So can I get this clarified? Are reserves left out of this agreement or am I right? I will point out that there are reserves who enjoy the 1 in 4 off.

the agreement is not quite "everyone who wants 1 in 4 gets it", its if the office chooses it as the duty structure then yes you are entitled to it, so as long as the office hasnt asked for 1 in 6 or some other pattern and your the only one wanting 1 in 4 then you should press the rep to get it enforced or go above his head, though as a reserve you might not get exactly 1 in every 4 saturdays off, you might need to put up with 2 in 8 etc

Thanks for that. Our office is on the 1 in 4 rotation for most duties. There are perhaps 3 or 4 people still on the week off scheme. My concern is that I will get the manager speak of "you get the day off for the duty" which translates to "You will never see a Saturday off again you halfwit, now come in early and work your break like the rest of the spares".

This happened to me a few years ago, when they first started 'revisions' you cannopt claim discrimination, but you can say this is detrimental to you, and unfair. Especially if others got to keep their Saturdays?long weekends. I got mine back!

1 in 4 isn't in force here, but 1 in 6 still stands (not that there was a vote on that). A guy who transferred here as a reserve lodged a complaint with the DOM regarding the lack of Saturdays off. He gets them now, though that relies on a sympathetic DOM. Best bet is that if the office rep isn't doing anything about it, to go above him to area. Hopefully someone up the chain is interested in seeing the few benefits of modernisation (the bread crumbs from the table, if you will) delivered instead of what requires the least effort from management - not that they're anywhere to be seen beyond 10am on a Saturday.

Im a reserve and since September I havent had a saturday off......oh wait I was rotared a saturday off last month but by the tuesday my walk for that week had changed which meant I was given the friday off instead. Typical!
To be honest I dont mind doing a saturday as its an easy day and I finish early, usually 1ish. Id rather have a wed or thurs off each week as they are usually the busy days and plus it breaks up the week. Saturdays are a easy day normally.
