Leave reserve xmas duties... Indoors!!!!!

Any other leave reserves been asked to work indoors on the counter in December? (not sure of the official name,but basically giving parcels to customers on the counter).
Not sure if this is a good or bad thing. I was told the reserves have to do this as no holidays can be taken in December so basically there are no annual leave duties for us to cover. Downside for me is that I probably wont get any xmas tips and apparently we get sworn at etc by the customers for parcels that we cant find.
Upside I guess is that I won't have a month of walking around with really heavy pouches full of xmas cards and packets.

I wouldn't worry about christmas tips as people rarely give tips to reserve posties It is not worth the hassle for sake of 15 pounds of tip or whatever. You can get time off in December but again it depend on your delivery office. I mean I got annual leave for a week next week. (Was going to do Vienna Salsa Congress but no due to balance)

I didnt think id be getting good tips anyway. I was told no one has any time off in December at our office hence everybody being in (except for sickness). Im not sure how stressful being indoors is over xmas,Im not arsed about getting abuse from the customers as stuff like that I laugh at (to myself) and I suppose the upside is that I wont be delivering much unless I do afternoon packet duties by van. Anyone any indoor counter experience.?

There will probably be people going off sick so you could end up on a delivery anyway.

I have done this, your main problem will be 739 cards that have not been filled out properly. No matter how many times people are told some cannot grasp the principle of doing this correctly. Also not being able to find the items because they are still in the posties pouch/van. Can be stressful but in general the great British public are pretty nice.
