Re: dividends
Should think it would go into your SIP as you cannot touch them for three years!

Re: dividends
Dividends will normally be paid twice a year to shareholders and are a distribution of a portion of the company's profits.
We normally announce dividends at the same time as the annual and half-year results. Dividends are paid on a half-yearly basis. Royal Mail’s financial year end runs to the last Sunday in March each year. For each financial year it is our intention to pay any interim dividend in December or January and any final dividend in July or August subject to shareholder approval at the AGM.

For your Free Shares, any dividend payments will be paid straight into the bank account we pay your salary into. If Equiniti does not have details of your bank account, they will send a cheque to your registered home address.
For any shares you buy under the Employee Priority Offer and hold in your name on the ordinary shareholder register, you can choose which bank account to have your dividends paid into. If you do not give Equiniti details of a bank account, they will send a cheque to your registered home address.
Will I have to pay income tax on any dividends I receive?
Dividends are taxable income. How much income tax you have to pay will depend on your personal tax status. All dividends (whether the shares they relate to are held in the SIP, or held in the Royal Mail Nominee Share Service or in your name on the ordinary shareholder register) are received with the benefit of a tax credit. This means that if you are a basic-rate taxpayer or pay no tax, you will have no further tax to pay on the dividends. Otherwise, you will have to pay extra tax under self-assessment

Re: dividends
So if they pay dividends it goes into your bank account, simples.
No, but if they don't have your bank details to pay in to they pay a cheque to the registered address and if you didn't give them permission for that either then PM me for my address and I'll accept all your dividends. Why oh why are so many people trying to create problems where really none exist, are you a manager?fishtank wrote:Wait a mo...If Equiniti does not have details of your bank account,

Re: dividends
Sorry guys but if you read the report that was released today there are NO DIVIDENDS this year.
"As previously announced, in the absence of unforeseen circumstances, the Directors intend to propose only a final dividend in respect of this financial year, to be paid in July 2014, of £133 million. This amount is approximately two-thirds of the notional full year dividend of £200 million that the Directors believe they would have proposed if the Company had been listed throughout this financial year."

Re: dividends
The dividend is expected to be 13.3p per share according to this article: http://www.hl.co.uk/news/articles/royal ... s-reaction" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. So based on a holding of 725 shares as at April 2014, that would make a payment of £96.42 minus any tax and NI that each individual is liable for.
