World Class Mail, are CWU involved?

I thought I'd seen a letter stating that "CWU members shouldn't get involved in any WCM operations...blah blah blah", or something like this.
It went on to describe it as a Management Tool, not agreed to by the CWU etc.

But, Ive just been told, that there is a revamp being undertaken in the callers office and "this was paid for by WCM monies/funds" etc.

I'm either confused - quite easy to do - or I'm being given disinformation by someone...or someone really doesn't know whats going on.

Comments anyone?

How is the CWU involved if the WCM budget is being spent on the callers' office?

The CWU position is still that members should not be involved in WCM, but obviously they can not be stopped if that is their choice. There was an agreement between CWU and RM on WCM a while back, I can't remember exactly what was in it though. Tbh if it gets your callers office sorted out that can only be a good thing as most of them are crap and no longer fit for purpose.

Yep, a bit confusing, being "told" not to get involved..our Rep was apparently, but it may improve things, so its quite a seesaw...

I'm the rep in this office, they want to use my union room for dual purpose i.e. WCM training room !! (I.R. going in for this one, I cleared this room out and we are a recognised union in this industry, they cannot steal my room)
I have handed members a document stating we are out of WCM and its only voluntary. They have been videoing staff performing IPS and cleaning our vans ???
What a waste of money tbh !! Better spent on our pay rise.

For an office that's gone through a failed revision on 129 hrs savings and paying 300 hrs to cover it, since January. Lets cherrypick WCM to get what we want LOL
They are big on H&S etc & use their data gathering for our advantage and put in for re-investment and make up members contracts from part-time to full-time.
They have already seen & highlighted line managers performing OPG roles. (which I have raised numerous times before).

Cover...the person who supposeds to do PHG 2 has had nearly 60 days off this year...so it mite as well be me!!!!
( Childcare...for a 16 yr old? Give me a break...)

Since it is going to directly affect you then it would be worth at least finding out what they are planning on doing and giving some feedback. It doesn't mean you need to be 'involved' in WCM as such.

How do you know that? WCM is simply improvement activity. Revamping the callers office sounds like improvement activity to me.

Our office has been interviewing for WCM Coaches/Pillars this week and there was no shortage of takers. Looking forward to seeing who is going to end up as my WCM and instructing me in the correct way to walk up stairs, write my name or use a PDA - bet I'll be left off everyones list if they know what's good for them. This will bring the total to 8 in our office of 160 if you believe the blurb.

^^dvb - think you should apply, WCM needs people within it that can offer a strong voice in the process methods - not people who can be led like sheep as the outcomes will not be correct if methods are just pushed thru
