This apprenticeship fair was at the excel centre london

My son goes up to Royal mails stand and says to them my mum works at royal mail asa a delivery person,

They said that is good , my son replies Yes, BUT THE MANAGERS are a NIGHTMARE

I care to say that did not entice him onto the apprenticship scheme

I did not even know Royal mail stand was going to be there and I would not tell him to have a go But

Actually T Man My son has gone through a lot with those lying bullying managers seeing how his mum has been left in tears and off sick , he did not have to say anything , but funny enough they actually agreed with him so what does that tell ya ,

His dad is a postie in another area and he has told his son not to bother , Just think a plumber is a better career option
at least he does not have to back stab for a bonus

Commonsense would'nt go amiss but that is something a lot of lino/doms dont possesss

Since it was an apprenticeship trade fair I would imagine it would probably be in some kind of engineering discipline,nothing really to do with us.Saying that how much security does engineering have within Royal Mail? Will it be considered part of our "core business" and protected by any agreement we reach or will it just be outsourced? Who knows?

I think despite the current economic conditions it's still a stall I would have passed on,There are usually plenty of stalls at these things,why waste your limited time on a company you know has a poor industrial relations record and a reputation for even poorer management?

A means of businesses paying much less than the minimum wage, with no responsibility to train anyone for a future career, unlike apprenticeships of old that provided long term training for a future professional well paid career. In other words. Cheap/slave labour.

No-one knows, but then that goes for any job anywhere. I too thought that it would be an RM engineering apprenticeship as RM would hardly advertise for postie recruits at an apprenticeship trade fair.
That said, it's still a "proper" structured training period lasting three years and with external accreditation, and even though some may claim "cheap labour" it isn't, in reality. To someone desperate for a start as an apprentice ( and sadly many more want to than there are places available) the idea that "the management are really sh*t" or "I'd pass on that one" isn't really a viable choice, nor even realistic given the economic climate.
It's bizarre that someone would want to jeopardise his own chances of a job by a pointless little jibe about poor RM management to the people manning the stall, who probably don't know and couldn't care less about the trials and tribulations of delivery posties any way.
