Smoking near the door

My frame is right near the door and the last few months more and more cigarette smoke is billowing in to me making me cough like mad one time when the no smoking policy came in smokers had to go near the gate now they have crept back nearer the door. Problem is my manager smokes with these smokers and I don’t want to report it to him as he will tell the lads & girls it was me going on about it what should i do? By the way the union rep smokes as well. need to get this stopped as they throw the dimps on the floor then still smoldering in towards me.. Disgusting habit!!!

Some must have a fag every half-hour throughout the day , (nearly the same as linos and coffee) , but not really fair for non-smokers is it?

We have to smoke outside the yard as the yard itself is still classed as your working environment

Regardless of whether your manager is one of the smokers, managers do have responsibility to uphold smoking policy. If you or your colleagues are affected by second-hand smoke you need to let the manager know.
In this day and age the manager will not be surprised to get a complaint about smokers. Hopefully, he will be sensible and find a place for the smokers which eliminates the problem for you.

i think the law states at least 4 mtrs from any building i might be wrong but im sure someone on here will know. raise it with h+s rep

Unlike some other EU countries with a smoking ban, the regulations of England and Wales do not (yet) prohibit smoking within a specific distance of a doorway or an open window.
