why havent i got my own walk

Is there any reason why i should not have my own walk,i have been postie for 6 yrs and i am floater not through choice as dom just put me on floating duty when changes came in 18 months ago.There are guys who have been there less time than me who have on walks although we have had no resign dom just decided who was working with who,the thing is i cover these walks for them yet i have been there longer than them,but when asked dom he said it was suitability and i will carry on floating! i often have 2 change when they work there day off as well but union rep who retires in 4 months says as there is no resign he can not help,he says we should have resign but we are short staffed and now have temp manager who has no interest in changing anything infact he has told me that in dec he wants me driving as other guys are working days off! it does not look like a repick is happening so can i demand to go on a walk as i am more senior to several people and/or can i refuse to change to driving as i should be covering days off and they should be driving? am getting fed up with situation always me changing so i told him today i need my days off in dec and will not work past my time!

9 years and counting mate. Several threads on this, I am full time so any duty comes up in my office I am told I can't go for it cos I am full time and it is going to a part time duty so my own contract goes against me!

if your rep is no help go over his head to your area rep to see what you can do about getting the resign enforced

strange logic isn"t it i am ft too and when a job comes up they put pt on it but in my grp 2 ft started after me i think i have been too flexible over the yrs so they take it for granted,but recentley have turned down ot not that there is much anyway because i only get asked now because we have a lot of sickness,tbh job is too tiring now to do ot so have told dom unless he changes me i am not prepared too help them it seems they just cause these problems themselves and i will only be working my hrs at christmas as i believe i am being treated unfairly

yes thanks think i will do this as we have been waiting 2 yrs for resign and they treat a lot of people badly coming in and changing them but people who work day off stay on same walk for 6 days! the leadership at the rm is terrible i do not believe they could do this else where and have been arguing with dom about this but now i am going to take this further

When the pegesus revision happened in 2008 a re-sign never happened and 4 months later when the old system was restored no re-sign again. It took me 18 months to get my own walk, but this was when spare and vacant duties were advertised. For years now its been casuals and part timers filling spare duties and the rest on overtime dockets. Don't think the business does re-signs anymore unless forced to due to revisions. Its too much effort for the management when they just have to put part timers on duties. Thing of the past mate. Job is a job and at least there is work for you !

Need a lot more like you to not just accept what these managers make up as they go along. Agreement's were fought for so don't be put off by the no ballers on here!

agree they change rules for there own good and if you dare speak up they think you have an attitude they need training in how to treat people fairly as it clearly does not happen at rm

Guys of 10yrs plus have ended up floaters in our place whilst guys just in door all got there own walks its a pile of crap

6yrs is nothing, one guy in my office has done 13 years, is a floater and still hasn't got a FT contract. On our resign 2 years ago you needed 10+ years to get your own walk.

Nothing has changed, it took me 7 years to get my own walk and a FT contract.

All the walks in our DO are chosen on seniority but since the walks are so uneven, as a relative newbie, you really don't want your own

We had to go through several re-picks as hardly anyone would put their names against some duties, and others changed their minds when they discovered what they had signed up to

So are there less seniority people than him in the office with there own walk because if there is he should be in front of them we had similar guy who worked with me he got union involved and now he has own walk, you have to push but they will have to change him if there has been no resign, which is what i am in process of doing
