Is this sackable offence ' Duty covering'

Is covering someone without it being authorised warrent a conduct code or even the sack.

well, i covered someone and it was authorised i did my part and covered my mate. One of the days they were supposed to cover me could not be done, but was done at a later date. The issue is that later date was not in the book.

They could make an issue out of it.
It would depend, basically, on whether or not the manager(s) like you/your mate.

I suppose technically you could be conducted for it, but I would argue that as the job was done, there was no harm done.
They may say as it wasn't in the book, therefore unauthorised, that technically the person not at work is on an 'Unauthorised absence'.
I think dismissal would be very unlikely. Shouldn't come anywhere close.
It would basically be a failure to follow correct procedure, in ensuring the 'swap' is in the book.
But, depending on how this is done in your office, it could merely be an oversight. A manager could have been informed about it, and forgotten about it.

He was not informed. i myself informed him that the day before that i will be covered by my mate who owes me one day, but clearly he forgot what i said, but instead asked my mate if office signed it. will see what happenes.

nothing will happen it happens all the time in our place as long as he signed in and out for the duty covered

they say in ours as long as the duty is covered afterall its a genuine employee not joe bloggs on your duty

Yes, so long as everything is delivered then it shouldn't be an issue.
I've done a couple of streets for a colleague who needed to get off early on a Saturday, not an issue with anyone else surely.

As long both parties show up and sign in and do the job. The book is just for admin purposes.

And I have neither known of nor seen such a book.

My office theirs a folder called duty exchange where both parties write personal info and dates of exchange, it then gets signed
By a manager.
