Seat Belts

Day off yesterday, got into van today and found seat belt was already plugged in to slot. Presumed it had been to garage for something and they had done it but I found out from my p and l partner that the person on it yesterday had done this when they left office as the beeping noise it made when not plugged in annoyed them . So to save a bit of time and risk losing your licence, losing your job, paying a huge fine or actually headbutting the front windscreen this idiot had not had their belt on from leaving the office to returning..........speechless.

Most probably he wanted to make sure he could finish the delivery. Did he skip vehicle van checks aswell so he can do more loops ?

I believe you can drive 50 yards without a seatbelt for deliverys?I have mostly quiet areas on rural where i do same thing to stop that annoying buzz when iv'e had to drive those vans!

'It is law & business policy that seat belts must be worn at ALL times while driving ,which applies to all occupants of the vehicle ' as it clearly states in the Royal mail drivers manual so no exceptions & if you get caught then YOU pay the fine !
Pretty dumb to drive without a seatbelt on anyway but each to their own

There are people who have been given a 2 year suspended dismissal for failing to wear seat belts.

And this week was national road safety week (or some other such crap), and we were told by our manager to wear them, NO exceptions.

not wearing a seat belt is cutting corners, and people who are doing that are basically making the job harder for the people who are trying to do the job properly, wearing a seat belt will make your round longer slightly and thus if everyone is doing it, will add extra hours into your office if you are all doing the job correctly, and may even get some part timers made up to full time hours

And the current version of the 'Security Rules for Drivers' that we all are meant to sign states clearly states that you are meant to try ALL the van doors manually EVERY time you leave the van. No exceptions, so it's pretty dumb not to try ALL the van doors manually EVERY time you leave the van.
