World Class Male in DO

Our delivery office is being used as pilot scheme for WCM. (i'm keeping well away).
I know its voluntary and the CWU want an agreement on it. But what are the positives & negatives of WCM.
Please list details of what we need to watch out for ?

I might be wrong but I don't think the union are looking for another agreement on WCM,They got burned with the last one and I don't think they want anything more to do with it...ever which really should have been the position from the start.

There are a few positives from the Indoor Methods revision side of it like a more professional packet sort operation(if you have the space) and some handy storage cabinets(if you have the space) and the slight possibility of a greater focus on safety but the rest of it,the silly pictures,the spaghetti maps and the japanese nonsense...is just a bag of shite.

What kind of changes ?

Callers office packet room rearranged but no infrastructure in place to cater to new system - no input into new system. Promised infrastructure in place three months ago but delayed over four months..
Office layout changed overnight, new procedures e.g portering implemented but workloads don't fit. Some deliveries having to take breaks before mail sorted because system not working.
Wcm even more insistant that some long duties can handle more work.

Even management had enough

Implemented correctly wcm might be good in the long run but in the short term it's total chaos

WCM is based upon good methods. i.e Japanese working methodology and sigma tools - Unfortunately RM have taken a version of it and delivered it in such an unspectacular failure position it makes me cringe how they are doing it.

You cannot deliver these tools with military management style i.e 'We decide want we want to do and you must follow it'

The background teaching techniques is actually about getting the staff involved in the decision making and placing best working practices forward utilising empowerment on a decision based system i.e actually listening to what the staff are saying and reacting with them. i.e Proactive, not Reactive

I have years of experience in such methodology and from what I have seen being delivered in WCM is cringe worthy.

I refuse to be part of it unless it's designed/taught/displayed/delivered in the correct manner.

Wait until that hedge fund (TCI, who bought 5.8% of the shares) get at look at how much money is being p!ssed away on WCM up and down the country, and alerts other investors. I think you'll find that WCM will have a very limited shelf-life now we're a private company.
Actually, as I am now a shareholder, like everyone else who got those free shares, I might well go along to the first Annual General Meeting, and ask if other shareholders are aware of the huge sums of money being squandered on WCM. Should set the cat among the pigeons

^^ Actually it would not surprise me if a form of WCM much, much bigger than what we see at the moment will be placed into this business.

Be very sure that now we have shareholders, the companies very first task over any kind of monetry input into the company is to pay dividends and show profit.

To do this the company needs to show itself as a streamline enterprise with reduced unnecessary expenditure - year on year savings will be demanded whilst profit is extrapolated at every opportunity - WCM or a new form is certainly on the horizon. Changes do need to be made or the company cannot go forward - This is how they will implement them.

The next few years are all about cutting out the dead wood in RM - from both a staff, property assets and business practice point of view.

I say if you think things maybe tough now - you ain't seen nothing yet.

When you think that Mail is down in numbers (so they say) and yet Packets are on the up (fact) Royal Mail bring out a system called World Class Mail, is it me or should a system have been brought in to deal with the extra packets and called World Class Packets and have bigger vans for instance.
