New this week

Hi All
I am new this week, had induction on Monday and then sent to depot on Tuesday, no one seemed to know that I was coming so they were all a little put out at having me tag along, I have been shown bits and pieces and gone out on two different rounds, today I was told to slow down so as not to be back at the depot too early and then in the next breath was told I had to speed up, was still back an hour before my shift was due to finish. As well as no one expecting me, I have no ID badge for which I have been emailed 3 times in the last few weeks asking for a photo so that they can get it ready for when I started, replied to all 3 emails and still no badge, no hi vis jacket, waterproofs or otherwise, was told I have to work 6 months before I am entitled yo any of these even though all the forms for uniform were sent in with my welcome pack.
I am on 3 month fixed term contract 24 hrs a week, i have been told that there will never be an opportunity for overtime on my kind of contract by the depot manager, I was under the impression that there was pretty much going to be lots of o/t if I wanted it when I was at interview etc (which was at another depot).
I was pleased to have got a job with Royal Mail although I have to say I am now a little dissapointed as I thought a company such as Royal Mail would have been more thorough in there procedures regarding new comers, I will stick with it but I can see why some people wouldn't, really not a good fist impression from RM.

thats royal mail for you I was a postman 14years so started in 1997 yes it was great then but then every year got worse but having said that I would not have left had I not been forced with sack or resign over awrong allegation against me but yes I can believe all of what you say just dont trust what they say
