DINGO !
Dingo!
in your post Yesterday you said that it wasn't an unanimous decision by the PEC,but in the LTB that followed it said it was unanimous..What gives?
Also you said there was a 'twist' which is?? or were u being funny in that it is really a 5 day extension?
Could you also enlighten me if the PEC can be over ruled by Dave or Billy(or anyone )?
Anyone else,feel free to answer

Re: DINGO !
The twist is that the PEC will meet on Monday 25th November to consider the detailed position and determine whether industrial action should be announced.
I would be very surprised if any decision by the PEC is truly unanimous since there are different types of characters involved but it's a democracy so it really doesn't matter.

chris...not asking about inner workings !! also im not having a go at Dingo only asking a few questions which I think he would answer without much fuss
and as for the title its to attract his attention as well as others who may be able to answer......so in other words it stays!!!

Re: DINGO !
It would be good if like the Bank of England they published who voted for what for future reference and then you would actually know if they talk a loud of rubbish. Fair play to dingo which I think he must have stuck his neck out and ruffled a few feathers..thehappyones wrote:Dingo!

Re: DINGO !
He is probably in the dog house.?
I still do not think shouting his name is the right way to go. A few people were intrigued by his comment yesterday and wanted quick answers - the traffic was so high after his teaser. He clearly monitors the site especially his own contributions, so if he wanted to expand he would have done so.
Anyhow, it does not really matter - does it?

Re: DINGO !
To be fair i think he was quick enough to answer and inform before, but now that it looks like our leadership has made an absolute balls up of the whole thing, things have went quiet. All people want to know is what is going on here. We pay our money and are entitled to know what direction this dispute is heading.

Re: DINGO !
This is how it works in most delivery offices, or for that matter any union business.....
On any issue there will almost always be those for and those against whatever the issue is.
if the vote goes for argument sake 60% for, and 40% against then the for's win the democratic vote.
In my experience that would mean a unanimous vote for as it shows solidarity and strength in the union ranks.
Why would you advertise the fact to Royal mail there was a large against vote?
It is always unanimous!! whatever the outcome...

Re: DINGO !
Look the decision yesterday at the Postal Executive was changed from a simple 7 day extension to a review on Monday where if there is no agreement then action will be agreed. In the end this change in the recommendation was unanimously endorsed by the PEC.
Now lets get this right the CWU are confident of an agreement and a very good one at that.
There is a new closed pay offer. The Pensions is done. The legal guarantees give the best protection that any union has ever received in this country. It really is game changing stuff. But is taking time. The Industrial stability stuff is almost done and does not include a no strike deal or arbitration.
Most of the workplace issues are resolved. On delivery there is still a lot of work still to be done but there is a belief we will get somewhere on the issues and remembering that some of the issues on delivery are a longer term vision including working groups being set up on parcels , new products etc.
Now lets be clear the dispute was always about getting the best agreement rather than a strike just to let off steam.
Both parties are playing for enormous stakes. The PEC have to decide does the deal get better or worse if a strike is called rather than allowing for extra talks. At this moment there is a belief that allowing to Monday which gives today , tommorrow and the weekend to reach a deal was the right think to do. If there is no deal then the PEC will agree action on monday.
I realise that in this fast communications world people want more information but do you want both negotiators to stop discussing a deal to communicate to each others respective staff /members or do they concentrate on getting a deal.

im very grateful to you Dingo, as your words speak great volume on the matters at hand regarding the high level talks... you know what your talking about.. i for one believe the union is doing the right thing in there tactics... if it takes a little time to get the best possible deal for it's members then i support it..... i do believe Dave ward does know his stuff and is professional in his approach to high level talks... i would like to see some of these people on here try and talk to very senior managers, higson and co.. and see if these people on here could handle the level of talks currently being discussed..
slagging the union off isn't helpful, but just gets people's back up.. so i say, patience, wait and see what the offer is when it's made available to the members.... then make a decision, by way of a yes vote, or a reject vote.. it's down to the members to vote it or not....
