Stike is not the answer !!

Post by oxon »

Strike is not the answer... work to rules is ... all across the board. How long staff is willing to carrying on striking ? more and more posties will go back to work in comming weeks. Thats what RM wants and thats what going to happen. RM is not going to give in because it has labour governments' backing. I spent over 40 years in the post office ( GPO in my days).

Way i see it mate is i may as well get used to losing one days pay a week, because if RM have there way, thats what my wage decrease will probably be. At least by being on strike i get a day off! Sad but true.

The strike is costing hundreds of millions of pounds and is putting businesses at risk of going bust so the government will be under pressure from their business friends to do something.

It may seem like they are not under pressure but when business is losing money on this scale they will have to agree soon.

It is not a case of :lfo and :cfo holding out as they will be told to do a deal.

It doesn't matter if some go back in as it will still cause chaos for weeks to come.

We are also working to rule when we go back so they will be hit twice as hard.

I would say that you need both to win because a wtr will start eroding after a few weeks but a strike with wtr will really screw them :cool

Work to rule is not a good way to go WORK TO HEALTH AND SAFETY is the best option... Carry a bag..push 1 york...drive to your 318...stick to the speed limits on roads..turn bags the correct way round in a york...follow SOP's for collections at post box's ect ect.
It will slow the work down mail will fail left right and centre and managment cant touch you for following the RM/HSE rules and guidelines. Even better self impose an over time ban can you imagine a boss "excuse me i got all this work needs sorting" with the reply "Sorry done my 8 hours i'm off home" :funneh :funneh

Hark back to the cry that this was going to be bigger than the miners strike!! This came from management who most likely thought they had the upper hand over the union.
What AL/AC did not reckon was the overwellming support the union has had, and I think Big Dave and Billy must have known a long time ago that RM would get up to their tricks by almost being at a deal then walking away, indeed I heard from a good source that prior to this action the deal was put to Operations Managers(like Steve Cameron/Prick Mcauley)and THEY binned it and told them what they wanted, so whats the point in having brokered a deal to let someone further down the food change kick it into touch!! Just shows how f****d up they all are... RANT OVER ALL OUT....

No-one wants a strike but it's the last chance we've got. I must admit that a work to rule/H+S would put the mockers on our office, mind you. I am the only one doing it so far (in an office of 30...I hope my actions will encourage more, and with the backlog their about to face I think a few will definately do it in the long run) and I'm causing a few problems on my own. Do what you think is right but please don't cross the line. I have a morgage, two kids and no 2nd income yet I know that this is one battle we must win for not just our sakes, but for future employees too.
You may be about to retire but remember the job and conditions you've 'enjoyed' (sic) over the years was fought for tooth and nail. I'm sure, with your history, that you have helped in many a fight against management in your time. Think back to those times and recapture that feeling.

I would not have voted for this action that we are taking if I had no intention of winning. I don’t think we have a choice but to continue. I do not want to walk into my office on the first day after the IA has finished to lower wages and a job that has me on stand by for 60 hours of the week to go anywhere any time. I have the opportunity to resign but many of my colleagues do not have that luxury. I intend to stand by them for a better deal. We all recognise there are challenges ahead with the competition taking our work but when you have idiots in charge whom give them the freedom to do so by allowing enormous discounts on their DSA we know we are fighting on two fronts. These idiots think we are going to accept a bad deal just so the competition can have cheep DSA and mechanisation can be bought to speed their work along. It seems at times that Lazier and Dozier do not work for RM but the for competition. I am not ready to throw in the towel. I worked for this company a long time before they set about bringing it down and I want to work for it when they have gone. We should continue our action, the public and especially businesses will not put up with it for long and the pressure on Lazier and Dozier and the government will soon grow. Let us not be defeatist leave that to Lazier and Dozier.

Okay oxon!
Tell me this, since we have started the doing your job properly campaign, how many of you and you colleagues have gone in early or used your cars?
The only way to fight this lot is to fight them in the trenches and on the beaches because if we don't win this one it's all finished for us!
