Hi Everyone, Can I ask you all a question?

My wife and I got married in July and both are reserves in the same office. There are 25+ reserves in our office including us and today we received our xmas duties. we are on completely different times I am on days (06:00 to 15:00) she is on late's (14:30 to 23:00) even our rest days are different.

Given how many reserves there are do you think we are being treated fairly?

theres nothing you have said that would indicate being treated unfairly the number of reserves doesnt really matter, how were the xmas duties allocated? there may be some unfairness there

If I worked with my wife I would consider that a result!

The duties were allocated by one manager and a head postman who do the duties all the time.

I spoke to our DOM and he said "we always try to keep couples duties as close as possible to be fair".

I suppose it is fair but if there are children or pets involved then they could have given it a bit more thought. And having worked with my missus , either that IS a result or try and get same hours at nearby offices , good luck.

With so many reserves surely they could have given us the same hours or much closer! Only 6 reserves will be doing the evening shift that leaves over 20......

No one wants to do the evening shift.

We are going to try to get a transfer in the New Year as this is not the only problem we have, but that's another topic.....

You are 2 separate employees you can expect special treatment because you're married.

you could try and use seniority, in our office reserves get choice of what duties they are covering on seniority basis
