Had a disagreement with a customer about a parking space,raised voices nothing more. She has phoned in a complaint saying I told her to f off. Had fellow postie with me who witnessed the incident,where do I stand?

As long as fellow postie supports your version you're cool
I find that walking away is the best bet when voices rise
Also explain to your manager that you tried explaining to the woman you had a lot of work to do and are legally entitled to park (where sensible) in order to carry out mail delivery :)

Worked as a postie for 10 years,don't know why I bothered arguing I usually walk away. Said I will apologise for parking in front of he house. Just want her to retract her false allegation.

Beats me why some customers think they are exempt from traffic law
Was there any signage saying not to park?
Legal signage that is?

Had one lady go mental and when I asked how I was meant to know she pointed to a card in her window

I will always stand my ground,As long as I know im right I will argue all day with a customer,Im not paid enough to bow down to the Public when they are wrong.
Some people think we can be spoken to like s**t,If im not in the wrong I give it back and so should everyone.

It's a parking bay on council estate definitely not private. She has a crappy no parking sticker on her fence. But I could have parked elsewhere and saved all this hassle.

Just remember when you get into an argument with a customer it's not really anything to do with one person's word against another's or witnesses but actually what a manager would call reasonable belief.

What that usually means in practice is that you'll probably get away with it the first time but the second time...well that's a pattern isn't it?

Had a member of the public block my car outside his house cos there were no parking spaces elsewhere, something everyone did only he wanted to park outside HIS house and I was in the wrong and he was not going to move it(even though he was in the wrong)no such thing as owning the pavement I told him still not going to move it, so I said will give you the time it takes me to phone police and tell them I'am going to tow your car out of my way(with our 600 van) so I started walking over to our office to get the van.........he had a change of heart and moved his car

Just had a postie of over 20 years service sacked in my office for swearing at a husband and wife during an argument which started after he misdelivered some mail for the house next door through their letterbox. After finding the mail, they then sought him out and confronted him in an aggressive "in your face" manner some 150 yards away from the scene of the crime and, unfortunately, he reacted by allowing himself to be dragged into a heated exchange.

Whatever the provocation, do not give Royal Mail an excuse to boot you out. The last time somebody had a go at me (they thought something "funny" MUST be going on because they hadn't had any mail for 3 days) I resisted the understandable urge to chin him and calmly invited him to meet me at the office at the end of my shift so that he could make his accusation in front of my DOM. It's a good job he declined, because you don't see my bosses backside for dust after 1pm.

Long time ago I realised that your on to a hiding to nothing arguing with a 'customer'

Had a situation where next door said she had been given permission to sign for a Special. I said sorry I couldnt as it was agsinst the rules. Had a few more words. Get back to the office got frog marched into the office shown compliant where I told woman to FO, threatened to punch her, delay and destroy her mail etc the full works. DOM tgreatened to take me off my walk. 'Customers' can do and will say anything because they get away with it because DOMs, Royal Mail are scared of them. Us posties don't matter.

NEVER back down to a gobby customer. If they are wrong I always tell them, and stay and argue until they accept they are wrong. (all without swearing of course)
