we got a new sign saying that -- you should take no more than 5 minutes to stow trays and bags ,and complete kill offs after return from duty ,,AND also do not prep Door to Doors unless instructed to (like a quiet tuesday )

, trying to get us home early on quiet days so he can claw back the time on the busy days

is this even legal ,, and i thought our time to stow trays was at least 10 minutes

In planning everything is broke down into 5 minutes ask to see how the manager has broke everything down ie prep loading of van time out to delivery time back van check etc 9

You also have the right to remain in the delivery office until your official finish time if you have not been allocated any extra outdoor/indoor duties. If the DOM wishes to send you home earlier then he does that at the cost of the company not you.

Let the manager be there on your return to the office if he wants to try to dictate how you use any spare time after delivery.

For the rural I've been covering this week it's needed up to 14 perstop trays to bundle the mail in. Bit of a challenge to line them all up in the right order in the back if the van, with all the large parcels lined up down one side!
At the end of the day all these empty boxes need to be stacked up on the right yorks to send back to the MC. Just like stowing your pouches at the frame at the end of a P& L duty.

We had the issue of them only giving us 5 mins to do stuff when we got back. Our union rep suggested we take some no access and kill off stickers out with us and sit in the van and do it after each loop.

I see. Our rurals mostly use supermarket bread trays (don't know where they come from), or they just put the bundles of letters in the van without using trays.

We don't get any given length of time to these types of things, it just takes as long as it takes. One day we might get rid of all packets, next day we might take back 20.

As for kill-offs, we do them before leaving the office.

I believe the number of redirections on every walk is part of the IWT.

clash - your office is definitely a lot better than ours. I have said before that we do not use the IWT and there is no resource meetings with any Rep (now we do not even have one).

I am a floater/reserve and I do rounds that I can do the redirection as I go along because there is just about 8 of them and then I have rounds that it takes 20 minutes to do a full box of redirections and some of them have 3 different Redirections for one property.

I am actually in a situation where I have to probably start a grievance because the manager has allowed some sections of the office to have a partial revision (even with Bikes*) to suit their selfish needs whilst another section is fully Shared Van & P&L.

One of a paired round is at least 1.15 minutes longer than the other but because there is a partial revision the bloke with the easy round does not have to lend a hand to the other despite the fact that the 2 rounds actually share the use of a van - for parcels.

The job is not the same for some...

* There is absolutely no need for Bikes as a solution can be easily found that involves working together from a van.
