Why don't RM ever test walks?

I'm sure it' the same in most offices, where everybody who does the deliveries knows some are better than others, yet we are expected to all complete in the same time?

2/3rds of our day is outside on delivery and the only part of the day management is interested in is the 1/3 we are indoors sorting and prepping.

All it would take is a manager come out one day on each job, delivery person does it properly and manager times how long it takes, and makes notes of hazards etc.

Instead all we get it is constant bullying and abuse when we suggest we may have to cut off, how is counting all my letters before I tie up any way of working out if I have enough time? And how is it possible for a manager to say he's counted them all in literally 5 minutes?

he doesnt count each letter, he is counting spaces in the frame so he can work out what percentage of call rate you have, thats why it only takes 5 min, if its over what the duties were planned at he should assume you should be over and if its under (which it always seems to be according to them) it "should" take less

The drive back to the office was very subdued,I thought at one point the managers were going to make the planner walk back.

The planner was right.......though he was still wrong too.

managers are the planners the all thick so what do you expect, managers want the revision in to make savings nothing else
as long as they get their bonus they are not intrested.

you should now say you thought streaming of mail was not allowed (normally only when they say take out 1st class only, but it is a vaild comment if they are saying leave packets) ask them to put it in writing that packets are to be left in

In my opinion Pegasus is a complete waste of time,usually you would say s**t in/s**t out but in the case of Pegasus it doesn't matter what you put in the result is always s**t,you end up having to make so many manual adjustments that it would have been quicker to plan the walks yourself.

Me and my partner got tested on a delivery with a planner. We went nearly 2 hours over our time, doing the delivery how RM expect us to, and the planner went back to the office and told the dom it was fine! Was then left to 2 panickers who come in early and don't have their meal breaks to complete it!

Unless there is a Coffee machine somewhere on your delivery, you have no chance.
They can't be expected to go without a Caffine fix for 4 hours.

i know a little bit about computers, and if RM think any program such as Pegasus can work out how long a walk should take accurately they are idiots ! Theres so many factors it doesnt take into account so the whole thing is pointless !
