After some advice please, a full time vacancy has come up at my local delivery office, however the office in which I have for 20 years have a shortage of staff, dom says she can't let me go, new office days he can't wait any longer, what donuts do, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

have you applied for the vacancy on the royal mail web site?

It is not really up to your DOM, if you want to be a full time staff with all the associated benefits then you should at least apply and see what happens.

Good question about how you found out about the vacancy. I doubt our vacancies is open to external candidates - should they all be open?

It isn't on the Royal Mail website, I think it is on intranet, royal mails internal site but not outside website,
I found out via a my union rep,

they are not all open to external candidates to apply, but the internal site vacancies are availible for anyone to look at online

I put in my postcode, put a distance of 75 miles and leave the other options as ''show all'' yet nothing happens???!!! Even though the scrolling text on the left of the page is showing positions that fall within the parameters I've just put in?

Yes mate, full time and still want full time, but want to know what to do if I can do anything,

You need to put in an official transfer request. Then get your rep involved, if he has no luck ask him to get the area rep as the area rep will be able to arrange it with the sector manager. That is if you are a union member.
