less drivers at christmas

Had a meeting with our dom today trying to get guys in p+L TO sign form saying we will complete walks in vans , last year we had 4 extra drivers now we are told this year only 1 extra driver we already have 1 ft driver covering parcels for hct we have about 40 walks of which 34 are shared vans he says rm are hiring less vans as we already have enough! he wants us to complete and reckons we will finish at about 330-400 oclock! the amount of extra parcels is crazy and the vans are not big enough when i questioned this he said we can not cut off! i refused to sign as did others has anyone else heard we are getting less drivers, and can we cut off on time at christmas if so i can see a right mess they are expecting miracles are duties are already 4 hrs plus 20 mins lapsing, he also says we might have to carry on lapsing in december!

Up to you, if you don't want to go over your time you don't have to, in which case do not sign it. If you then go out on a P/L shared van with someone who has signed it/wants to run - then insist on using a LWT (and bring this up if partner/manager moans to boss about you, as he will likely be using a bag on shoulder to get around quicker)

FFS people read the business policy regarding delivery failures. You make them aware of the problem as soon as you become aware of the problem.

You, we, i cannot just cut off and come back with mail, once you've left the office it is not unreasonable for RM to expect you to complete the delivery. However what you can do is come back to the office and make them aware of the problem with completing your delivery AS SOON AS YOU'VE BECOME AWARE and ask them what they want you to do.

yep saw him today and says it is voluntary but wants us to try our hardest to complete as they will pay ot no question! think he is panicking as so many are already cutting off as can noo]t finish as we are still doin lapsing!! he says if we take mail with us we can not bring any back , so i guess i will leave plenty in the frame and tell him can not complete
