What happens next?

What happens if someone in your office goes for a walk that is put up on the board gets the walk then a few days down the line the posties says "this walk is not for me BIG Mistake" then the postie goes back to his old walk. Does the walk go down to the other applicants that applied or does the walk go back up again?

Why put the walk up again when the criteria for success is length of service?

I thought that once you had signed for a new duty you had to remain on it for 12 months unless there was a major change etc. etc.

If you change your mind straight away I don't see a problem, even after a few days I would not see a problem because your old walk would still be vacant so it would not really put anyone else out. I second the fact that if someone did change their mind about signing for a new walk that had been put up then it should then go to the next senior person that applied.

Why would the second-most-senior person even want to take up a walk that the senior man has effectively said 'Feck that, it's too much like hard work' to ??

I said the next senior person that applied, so that could be someone who is 65th on the seniority list out of 70.

we had this in our office recently , and a back lash ensued to the point of B/H so the area rep got involved and the agreement, was once you signed for it whoever the senior postie is that ahd applied for it , you have to stay on it for 12 months and this was implemented

The person who was the successful applicant should be made to follow the rules and stay on the duty.
