Key Holder

Can anyone be forced into being a key holder for a delivery office?

Our management like nothing less than to shoot off a bit early leaving someone else to lock up - usually not a manager.

but can the responsibility be forced upon someone and can it also be refused?

If you are in charge would you not be entitled to leadership allowance ask if you get it not a problem if they say no you can also say no.

It would be fairly unusual for managers to be responsible for unlocking/locking up in a DO. Normally the early locker staff would unlock and late staff lock up and they would be paid leadership allowance for being in charge when there are no managers there, just locking up alone does not qualify for this though. If it does not actually form part of the duty that has been signed for then I don't see how anyone can be forced it do it.

The last to leave the office should be those with the privilege of rank and in order of said rank this is why I despise our leadership so much to much delegation not enough dedication!

My office is open 21 hours a day. It is hardly reasonable to expect managers who start at 6-7am to still be there when the office is locked up at 8pm

I've been trusted with the house key since I was at junior school and don't mind having the two office keys on my key ring too.
If an allowance needs paying then it should be for van driving which is more responsibility than locking and unlocking a small delivery office.

With only two LMs they could never ensure there was always a manager on site. It would be completely impractical and pointless. It would also be impossible in DOs with a singleton DOM. Why bother having a manager on site for 4 staff on nights or a dozen or so on collections. Clearly the managers are needed more when there are 100 or so delivery staff in the morning.
