....regarding the talks currently taking place between Royal Mail and CWU?

What did Royal Mail offer the CWU for them to avert the strike?

What are the CWU asking for on our behalf?

Are they making progress or is there a deadlock?

Will it be rubber stamped by Wednesday?

If not what happens next?

Know the talks are all hush, hush and behind closed doors with no statements to the media but it's frustrating for us the paying members not to hear anything. Or have I missed some vital information somewhere along the way?

It must be getting squeaky bum time for the union bods because they need an agreement by close of play day after tomorrow and it had better be good. Lets not bugger about with joint this and joint that and consensual plans involving the CWU because we in deliveries know that is bullpoo. The cry was that unless the problems in deliveries is sorted there would be no agreement..............well we'll see. Forget the resource meetings, they do not take place and duties are lapsed at the drop of a hat and traffic figures are a fecking joke and really play no part of whether lapsing/absorption more a question of get the plebs to do it so the managers don't have to get off their arsees.

If the resource meeting isn't happening the rep goes to disagreement.
It goes up the food chain.
If the weekly resourcing meetings aren't happening at least Divisional reps should know about it.
Unless the IR framework doesn't work either.............?

You need a functioning union system for these things to happen and that we don't have because there are no checks and balances between local and national organisations .....................it reminds me of a comic book hero..........limp along Leslie.

Moreover, there are many outposts and smaller offices out there that Union activity is at its barest.

So basically the answer to my post at the beginning is as 'worktotime' has quoted above?

Are the bigwigs of the CWU out of touch with the paying feet on the street?

Do they take their paying members for granted?

Now don't get me wrong, I know without a shadow of a doubt that my job is a far better place because of the union. Still think it's a fair question to ask if the bigwigs of the CWU really understand the needs, concerns and problems of the everyday normal, hard working, genuine, humble postie?

Listen you cannot conduct important negotiations against the backdrop of the CWU keeping their members updated and Royal Mail keeping their managers and employees updated on their version of what's happening otherwise the negotiations would be about each other's comms.

Already a whole morning was wasted when someone who should have known better put something on this site which was not meant for a wider audience.

Look for those who have never been in these kind of negotiations , well a lot of time is spent in seperate rooms with Roger Poole and ACAS attempting shuttle diplomacy , other times your drafting words.

Look I have said it before the PEC will get a full report today and will make a decision. Unless Royal Mail do a complete somersault there will not be an agreement on all issues and therefore no agreement. Progress has been made on a number of issues but on workplace issues Royal Mail believe there is still a shed load of savings to be had and don't want any agreement which prevents them from taking them. The CWU will not accept Royal Mails postion on deliveries.

Being an hawk if it was up to me then I would vote for action that then gives Royal Mail 7 days to accept that there has to be a new agreement on workload and the future.
