Behavioral problems
My boss said to me today 4 times that I must have behavioural problems ,this was because I questioned why when I was put on a duty I didn't know
I was given a map and told to get on with it, yet today when someone in our office was asked to do a duty he didn't know he said so and
was moved to the duty I was on and I was moved to the duty he didn't know when I asked why the difference, am given a map he's not
that's when he made the comment about me having behavioural problems (mental health issues) he said HIS boss thought the same
should have knocked him out on the spot but I cant afford to lose my job .HE said if I question him again he will discipline me . I will be seeing
my rep in the morning I want something done about him and his boss .

Re: Behavioral problems
if you have a smart phone or a dictaphone use it tomorrow when you speak to your DOM and record the whole conversation you have with him.
don't tell him you are recording the convo unless he ask's, but you will then have a record of what was said and by who.

Re: Behavioral problems
simple solution is do the duty they are asking whether you know it or not but tell them you aren't working over. leave it up to them whether they want you bringing bags of mail bag to the office

that is illegal and will not hold up in a court of law.doorstepped wrote:if you have a smart phone or a dictaphone use it tomorrow when you speak to your DOM and record the whole conversation you have with him.

Re: Behavioral problems
I've thought of recording him, but the best thing to do when talking to a dom is NEVER be on your own, take a witness.

How come a politician managed to record a conversation with Policemen and then this became sort of evidence used to implicate the said policemen and even used in Select committee to beat up the policemen and police force?

It may not be needed in court Stella. It's a useful aide-memoir if you intend writing a letter to your Manager expressing your point of view. I'd always recommend putting your complaints in writing....although I've never, ever, had a written reply from a Manager. Strange that!

Re: Behavioral problems
I think it would depend on circumstances.Stella102 wrote:that is illegal and will not hold up in a court of law.doorstepped wrote:if you have a smart phone or a dictaphone use it tomorrow when you speak to your DOM and record the whole conversation you have with him.

I believe that secret recordings have been allowed in at least one ET, because it demonstrated the dishonesty of the employer.
It would be for the Judge/Magistrate or whatever to decide.
It would be better to have the conversation recorded and have it disallowed, rather than not have it and have a Judge or whoever asking if you have the incident on tape.
Plus, as suggested above, it's not just for the courts. If you produce a recording that can prove what was said by someone, I think you'll find that any case/accusations or whatever would be quickly swept under the carpet.
Sometimes, I wish I wasn't a Rep.

You do have the right to record certain chats in work, for example when you have a cut off conversation you can record it. I would guess you have to make them aware you're recording though.

Re: Behavioral problems
Used to get this crap all the time when i was a reserve. I had a set plan of walks for the week yet some days i'd walk in and get faced with one i'd never done before and a map. All the while someone is on my set round because he/she didn't know the one i got lumped with.
It's weird and annoying.
Just do it and work to your time. They can't do anything.

Re: Behavioral problems
Happened to me the other week.
Was given a map with a few pointers (written out by a fellow worker) & off I went.
First bag was like a maze, all flats with nothing following on,rest of duty was ok but still didn't even have half a clue were I was gong even though I had done the a Duty before (albeit a good 8-yrs ago).
I simply rang my line manager at 13.00 & said some Mail would be returning to the office with me when I was finished (at my official finish time).
I was asked to explain myself so I did. It was a Walk I did not know + I use a Trolly (they already knew the last bit) - hence it was always going to be a struggle for me to complete.
Needless to say the day after (a very busy Wednesday) I was moved to a Duty I knew.

Re: Behavioral problems
This happens to me at least once a week, put on jobs I don't know and most of the time I end up bringing stuff back.

Re: Behavioral problems
This is the problem!
At that point you end your attendance quoting the Mental Health issues identified by your Manager's. Then you contact the Bullying and Harassment Helpline and get a Stage 2 Greivance Form, (because the helpline is almost guaranteed to ignore your report).cuz50 wrote:that's when he made the comment about me having behavioural problems (mental health issues) he said HIS boss thought the same
