Re: EVR criteria
What if your duty is being removed from the office and there are no vacancies in your own office or any offices nearby?
And why is it called 'voluntary' when it's a choice of EVR or nothing?

Re: EVR criteria
Our office lost a contract and the 2 blokes who used to do those duties on nights are facing EVR. From what I can gather, the EVR was only offered to them and it was the only thing that RM wanted to give them. There has been little attempt to find alternative duties and they are surplus. It doesn't look good for when we lose the CSS machines in the near future as that is another 5 duties that will also be surplus.zx135 wrote:there is no compulsory redundances, they cannot force you to go, its never EVR or nothingpinstripe wrote:What if your duty is being removed from the office and there are no vacancies in your own office or any offices nearby?

Re: EVR criteria
It may not look good, but they definitely will not be made to take an EVR you dom might want them to but he can not force them too under any circumstances at them momentpinstripe wrote:Our office lost a contract and the 2 blokes who used to do those duties on nights are facing EVR. Re: EVR criteria
EVR or Vr's for that matter are offered to the office as a whole and the most senior applicant(s) who accepts the package gets it.
If there are no takers at the affected office the offer is then made to a nearby Office(S)
If there are still no takers the net is cast further.
It is highly unlikely, in my area at least, that there wouldn't be a queue for it.

Re: EVR criteria
Here we have been told it goes on the cheapest payout, i.e if one guy is expecting £30k because he's been there 30 years, and another guy is worth £15k after 10 years then they will get rid of the £15k guy!
Why are lino's paid full-time ??

Re: EVR criteria
It doesn't work that way, as others have stated.5plusbonusball wrote:Here we have been told it goes on the cheapest payout, i.e if one guy is expecting £30k because he's been there 30 years, and another guy is worth £15k after 10 years then they will get rid of the £15k guy!
But, in a year or two? I'd expect this to become the norm.
Get rid of the younger posties with less years of service, on the cheap.
Whilst waiting for longer service posties to retire.
Then replace them all with PT staff.
And beyond that, even worse, as the union will be weakened by these actions.
Sometimes, I wish I wasn't a Rep.

Re: EVR criteria
If that was the DWP mail opening contract then I think there was an LTB about the arrangements for dealing with staff affected by the loss of that contractpinstripe wrote:Our office lost a contract and the 2 blokes who used to do those duties on nights are facing EVR. Re: EVR criteria
I believe the correct procedure for OPG VRs is still seniority within the unit. However in the past there have been issues with regard to how RM views 'the unit' which they have sometimes appeared to manipulate to save cost or encourage surplus staff to leave.
The DOM sounds as if he is getting his wires crossed with the managerial VR procedure which is usually offered based on cost although there is the little caveat of RM being allowed to retain staff with essential skills. To further encourage managers who are surplus but reluctant to take VR the business often cites the possibility of redundancy on Govt terms should enhanced VR not be accepted. How they haven't been convicted in a criminal court of out and out blackmail still baffles me.
Bottom line is make them stick to the rules which are available from your CWU rep but be prepared for some form of intimidation/coercion if the local management have their own agenda ... keep a record of everything and be prepared for raising a case of B&H (something which Moya will not admit in public is an issue within RM
