quick question. on some walks in our office we use LWT's. i was just wondering what distance you are allowed to leave your trolley from the door? some house have little steps on the pathways so cant get the trolley up and we cant carry bags either. also whats the policy with LWTs and going into shops on high streets and things like that? just dont wanna be pulled by IB etc etc. cheers.

Light Weight Trolley (LWT) & 3 Pannier Trolley
DO
• Inspect your LWT/ 3 pannier trolley before leaving the office to ensure it is in good repair and can contain mail securely
• Clip shut the pouches on the LWT and fasten all panniers on the 3 pannier trolley
• Move your LWT/ 3 pannier trolley from delivery point to point
• Only leave your LWT/ 3 pannier trolley outside the immediate delivery point that you are delivering to (the immediate delivery point may include adjoining properties or shared driveways)
• Wherever possible carry SD items with you and use a small delivery pouch when delivering to flats or multi level delivery points.
DON’T
• Overload the LWT pouches/ 3 pannier trolley panniers so you cannot fasten them securely
• Leave items of mail on top of the trolley when left unattended
• Leave your LWT/ 3 pannier trolley on the street overnight
• Leave mail unattended in your LWT/ 3 pannier trolley for more than 1 minute. (The only exception is when it may take slightly longer to obtain signatures for signed for products and for serving P739 card for undeliverable or DTN items)

Note: Whenever left unattended there is a significant deterrent to criminal activity if the delivery officer is in line of sight

As for shops it would be impossible in my opinion to leave an LWT on a high street while you enter a shop and guarantee the security of the mail.
Shops should be planned using either an HCT or a small pouch bag.

The delivery method should be assigned to the duty by the planning team.
The relevant security checks should have been carried out.
You should only be using what has been properly assigned to your duty.
So how would you get pulled by the IB?
