Hi, I have just got myself a job in delivery and had a few questions about the pay.

the pay is £8.58 p/h - it says pay increments after 6 and 12 months.

Does anyone know what the pay goes up to after this time, and does it go up every 6 months or is this the only time your pay goes up?

it also says:
"We also offer a Delivery Functional Supplement of £21.62 (pro -rata) plus overtime and shift allowance if applicable."

What does this mean?

Having looked on job websites it says the average postman wage is £18,000 a year but the pay they are offering is far from that. Just wondering whether you guys think this is achievable once the pay increments come into play and you do some overtime?

After 12 months, pay goes up to £372.10 for full timers. That's £9.54 per hr. It is very possible to achieve £18,000 per year, if you do some overtime to take you up to full time hours or more. Delivery supp is on top of that. Pay doesn't go up every 6 months after that.

You'll get a 50p per hour rise after 6 months, and another 50p after 12 months (so in a years time you'll be on £9.58 p/h + whatever the cwu/rm agree as the latest pay increase).

The full delivery supplement of £21.62 is added to your wages if you are on a full time contract, if you're on 20 hours a week it will be paid pro rata (ie 20/39ths).

So a full timer with a years experience will earn £9.58 X 39 hours X 52 weeks = £19428.24 + (£21.62 X 52) = £1124.24, making a total of £20552.48

Is 39 hours the minimum to be classed as 'full-time' as a postman?

Can anybody explain what is the delivery supplement for? I presume it is paid every week - do you get it if you have taken a weeks holiday off or not?

No we get it paid in the christmas pay week IRC.

The supplement is for working in the delivery function, not for doing D2D

Everyone who works in a Delivery office gets the delivery supplement even if they dont deliver mail / door to doors as phil said
