New permanent contract

Our office had had its revision and several of us have received our 'permanent' contracts, instead of three month ones. However, section 13.1 Notice of Termination states that my employment can be terminated with three weeks notice (the notice is dependant upon how long you have been there). So, what is permanent about this, it offers no job security whatsoever, they can terminate my employment without redundancy. Is this the standard rm contract now? What should I do?

Have you been working for Royal Mail for less than 2 years? If so, you are not entitled to anything under MTSF and you are not entitled to statutory redundancy either. Once you get to two years service then you should have the same rights as the rest of us

Yes its a standard for every employment contract, not just Royal Mail. However, not sure about the part you say about not getting redundancy, can you post that section in this thread word for word.

As a point of reference here is what was in my contract when I signed in about notice periods.
