DOM taking booked overtime away

So last week on several days I ran over resulting in me booking a total of 2hrs 20 mins combined throughout the week,Saturday came along ..we had an unusually quiet day....the upshot was we arrived back in the office an hour earlier where we endorsed our docket lefts and such....I was presented with 2 options from my DOM...1 was that I stay in office for an hour till our "official" finishing time OR he takes an hour off what I'd booked during the week(which I agreed),so come Thursday when I opened my wage slip I saw that he'd deducted the full 2hrs off my wage.

To be honest...the guy is a total prick and I couldn't be bothered wasting my time and breath arguing the toss over an hours pay....instead I have learnt a valuable lesson,but what I want to know is what he did legal? Was he allowed to do what he did? And has anyone else had a similar experience ...

Also I might add that a colleague of mine had pulled them out of the s**t and did around 40hours overtime over two weeks,the very same DOM refused to pay him as he'd (the dom) had gone over his quota of allocated hours of overtime he was to give out,this resulted in the said colleague going sick through stress and only after getting the area rep involved the DOM paid up

Its illegal, he can't do it.

Politely ask for what you are entitled to. If this does not work then get the Rep and ADR involved, you could ask the DOM in passing for the ADRs number.

But Phoenix is right, next time he asks you to do overtime remind him what happened. I did, it worked a treat.

Well, you returned to the office before your finish time and he was there - bad luck but I guess you have learned your lesson.

DOM going over his allocation for OT and then refusing to pay altogether is bad form. Sometimes the DOMs do this sort of thing but then they pay you the week after. But if he was going to be over his allocation by a huge amount, then he should not have asked the postie to do OT - he should have done it himself, along with his LM or whatever.

Managers are managers - you need to watch them! Sometimes, doing OT is more hassle than it is worth, in terms of the money. Sometimes, I do other jobs that pays a lot less than my current job - as long as I enjoy it and it gets me away from pounding the streets and then stressing whether I will be paid or not.

banking hours like this is not agreed and he cannot do it, grievance should be put in asap.

Lad at our office clocked up 110 hours took him ages to get paid.

You should check out my post in the union room forum!!!! i'm going threw a very similar thing with my manager and i contacted Moya greens office, its NOT allowed, i had a reply today and they are contacting his senior management and then getting back to me asap, ! have a look at sum of the replys i got it might help you!!

They take your pay away not to save royal mail from going broke but so they can put it away in their nest egg honest these managers want sacking royal mail will save more getting rid of this scum and make fair managers job's better!
