I don't know if its a good idea me coming on this site a week before i start RM. The more i read the more i get angry!! Come on guys and girls surely things cant be that bad?
In 2 minds weather to stay at present job? Any advice would be very much appreciated , i should be feeling really happy about a new job but i feel deflated before even starting

I enjoy it, always have. There are a lot worse jobs, I think the main issues seem to be management in some offices. Mine is fine, decent atmosphere and we have a laugh. Cutting off is no problem, tell the manager and that's that, no bullying or harassment to complete the walk. Yes he'll question if he thinks someone is taking the piss but that's his job.

I don't work over, don't start early, just work at a decent pace and it's a piece of piss to be honest. As I've already said though it depends on your office and managers as well as your own ability as to how difficult you find it.

Why be angry?

I will advise you to go give too much away about yourself; you have been a bit too open especially telling us where you were going to work.

If you are going to be working in delivery, then think and think again whether you might be better where you are. The business is changing, you are starting right at the bottom and things are seriously tough in delivery and for PTer on small hours - very little slack.

However, you are probably right to keep away from this site. People are here to vent, inform, debate, troll, lurk and do whatever people do on such a forum. Most people probably like their job and are happy with most aspects but like any job...

I havent told anyone where im working? i asked about tonbridge but im not working there... Understand what your saying tho. yeah angry maybe was a bit over the top but dont like reading certain things. why is there very little slack for pt?

I hope your office has a strong union rep because in some offices part timers are treated like crap by managers

The delivery span has increased from what the usual 3-3.45hrs (on very busy days) to something like 3:45-4.30(on very busy days).

Some just imagine if you get paid for working 5.5hrs a day (that is, 27.5hrs) or average of 5 hrs on 25hrs contract: now if your delivery takes you 4 hours, plus a break of 20 minutes and the rest; get in, finish off what needs to go on your frame, packets, redirection, bag up and load then finish at the office with some 5 or more minutes admin... Where is the time for you to even go to the toilet?

I hope some will tell me otherwise. I work 32 hours and also struggle apart from a Tuesday.

wow i see what you mean , sounds , bet the day goes quick tho. i dont care how many hours i have to work just as long as im paid for it, not alot to ask...

At the 3 hour point, knowing that you still have 2 hours to deliver, can be very slow and painful, both physically and mentally. But the upside is that you are out there in the fresh air and you go at a pace that suits you. Don,t try rushing the first few hours, you will pay for it later in the day.

how can you go at your own pace when there is so much pressure to get it all done? you cant work 5 hours without a break its against the law.
