Rest day rotation,advice needed.

I'm a full timer who has been on my walk a number of years...I've done six days and have applied to go five days as of next week.
My dom is saying I have to have my day off according to him...not rolling like all the other staff..I'm not sure whether it'll be a ongoing thing which I'd like to refuse...what is the contractual legality with this...or has anyone had a similar experience.

Any help or advicee will be gratefully appreciated.

are you currently contracted to work 6 days?

if so and you are the one asking to change to 5 without applying for a currently vacant 5 day duty, then the dom is not obliged to give you a rotating day off, but if its the other way round where he is asking you to switch to a 5 day duty then you probably could insist it has a rotating day off

Why would there still be a full-timer contracted to work 6 days/week when the rest of us went to 5 days about 10 years ago?
Is he like one of those Japanese soldiers who got lost on an island somewhere and doesn't know the war is over?

in that case your only giving up the SA, was that scheduled for the same day each week or did it rotate?

It was rotating,he saying he's nobody to cover it as part of a group cover...and ill have to fit in where I can.I've gave my six weeks in writing..

The duty has a rotating day off.
That is your duty. That is your day off.
Your DOM isn't thinking clearly. Is he saying that if he can't cover it, you won't be allowed a day off?
Covering the duty on your day off is his problem to manage. That's what he is paid for.

Had to laugh, that even the thickest of Dom's would try this on. Heed the advice given here to what should happen. Otherwise kiss goodbye to ever having a Saturday off, as your Dom will be picking your day off for you.
