DNR exempt?

I dont understand these redirections.

Do not redirect, exempt.

Mr bloggs,
mrs bloggs

old address: buck palace

new address: 10 downing street

So in that case what do I do? redirect them to downing street? dont redirect them as it says DNR exempt?

I had this the other week and the DOM said it means that you redirect only the exact name I.e if it says mr j smith, that's what you redirect. If it says mr John smith you don't, if that makes sence

It means those names have received a do not redirect excemption, so any letters that come in with the green chevrons stating do not redirect, you do for these names as the are excempt from do not redirect requests

why would someone want this redirection and not a 'normal' one?

you do not redirect it anywhere.

if the person named on the letter has moved and has a redirection set up, stick a red kill off sticker on it and hand it to your dom, if the person still lives at the address or someone else does, deliver it as addressed

Do Not Redirect - the letters with the green chevrons are normally to do with housing benefit.
The council don't want them redirected because they don't want people claiming at one address and living at another.
That is usually fraud.

In some particular circumstances the letters can be redirected.
These are DNR exempt.
So in your case you would redirect them.

If you do get a DNR letter and you have a redirection for that person at that address (and they are not Do Not Redirect exempt) put the new address sticker on the front of the letter but not obscuring the original name and address and hand it to a manager.
