POST OFFICE PAY 2012 AND BEYOND AND THE FUTURE OF THE CROWN OFFICE NETWORK – FURTHER INDUSTRIAL ACTION


The Crown Office dispute continues with, as yet, no tangible breakthrough. However negotiations surrounding the vision for the Crown Network of the future, are due to commence for two full days on Tuesday 29th and Wednesday 30th October.

Whilst these talks can be seen as a positive development, we still need to keep up the pressure on the Post Office, so that an agreement can be reached. As a consequence the Postal Executive has now endorsed a further full day of industrial action on the following date:

Strike Action all day - Monday 4th November 2013

Whilst this will be the thirteenth bout of industrial action – we have been sensible in spacing out the action - the last full day’s action was taken on 30th September 2013.

Following the two days of talks with the Post Office, a report will be provided to the Postal Executive on Thursday 31st October and we will give consideration at this meeting as to whether we call for further action short of strike. This will depend on the progress made.

Our members in Admin and Supply Chain will also be taking action on this day.

POST OFFICE: ADMIN / SUPPLY CHAIN DISPUTE ARISING FROM A PAY FREEZE AND UNAGREED PENSION CHANGES: STRIKE DATE


Further to LTB 713/13 dated 24th October, which provided branches with the ballot result (76% yes vote) for our members working in Admin and Supply Chain, and gave reference to a potential industrial action date, the Postal Executive have now endorsed industrial action for:

Strike Action All Day -Monday 4th November 2013
to cover all shifts and attendances commencing from 04.30am 4th November and before 04.30am on 5th November.

At this stage the Post Office has not responded to our letter seeking a reversal of their pay freeze policy. As a consequence, we have no alternative than to ask our members to support the strike to demonstrate to the Post Office that we will not accept pay freezes now or in the future.

Branches should note that this action will also coincide with the strike action being taken by our Crown Post Office members.
