Let's say you have agreed to work a day in an office that is not your 'home' office.

Your home office then, because of say, sickness ask you to work there.

Which office would you work in?
If you do a job too well, you’ll get stuck with it.

If I had the choice the one I preferred I guess. :hmmmm

I don't know that you have a choice. I would have thought you should work at the first one the booked you i.e. not your home office.

However, I was wondering if there was a ruling somewhere, somebody knows about that states a definitive answer. Maybe, your home office has preference over you, maybe as I am thinking, the one you are booked with is the one where you work. :hmmmm

I am pretty sure it going to be your home office. We have had people released on projects who have to return to us for the xmas pressure. :hmmmm

Surely it is up to the 2 managers to sort it out.
One may be able to cover by paying overtime or absorbing or whatever.
The other may not.
And that is where you would go.

If you have booked to go to one office and your parent office is now asking you to work there, let the DOM at your parent office square it with the DOM at the other office.
Or go sick and screw them both. (Just joking)

I think your parent office has first call on your services however as Clash says let the managers argue over it.

I believe the Area Managers normally send out their diktats ref which DOs "Need" extra OPGs during their conference calls. I don't think your DOM has much say in it. Basically it's a case of, "Send an OPG over to Such & Such Office, they've got 10 Posties off sick & holiday they're failing 3 walks a day"! :roll:

If YOU don't want to work in that DO because it has a bad reputation for disorganisation, and shafting anyone that gets sent there to help out ( Bourmemouth being a prime example), then unfortunately it's up to you to fight your corner. :wink:

This may simply be the fact that you're on a 24 hour contract and they want you to cover a 39 hour duty. Or you may have child care commitments that don't allow for a 30 minute drive back from this "New" Office. :speak to the hand
