Were the CWU invited to amalgamate with Unite

Were the CWU invited to amalgamate with Unite

Just curious, is my memory serving me right!. Did CWU get asked to join the Unite union..If so when? Cheers

Yes. The logo of the combined union was to feature the following items:
a creek
a white flag
a paddle

We need a merger with the RMT :cool

a bit harsh TBT,they did what the CWU couldn't and managed to unionise a private delivery company,we will also see how viable a boycott of DSA is and the CWU has also fell victim to the union laws and its these union laws that are the problem.Im not CWU bashing although I think they have handled the last 6 years very poorly.To me there are too many unions within the TUC and a merger would reduce the costs of individual HQs the only losers in this scenario would be some of the big earners at HQ and that's no concern of mine.

The CWU were in talks with woodley and Simpson in 2008 and woodley was due to address our conference in Liverpool. I moved the motion to oppose any merger with unite for a number of reasons including the CMA link. It was carried and that is still the current CWU policy.

Cheers Dingo thought there was some sort of merger called for, but couldn't remeber when..
