If it is deemed too dangerous for us to go out in the snow, would it also be dangerous to go out in potential 80 MPH winds with the risk of bits of tree or other stuff falling on our heads?

My round has lots of trees and is way above sea level. I have asked those that have been around a few years if the DOM is likely to consider this a risk. The answer......Nah.....highly unlikely. So is it up to us to make the decision?

There is a set procedure in the form of a excel sheet which the dom and the H&S rep will sit down and fill out according to the current weather conditions and that will dictate the correct delivery method or even to suspend the delivery.

Unless the wind is very high and there is risk of structures and trees falling down the delivery will most likely go ahead. Vans drivers are at risk due to opening doors into the wind and having arms wrenched etc.

Tools are only as good as the person that's using them, we like that one in our office too, stops us lapsing most weeks :)

A very intense low pressure system is forecast to run across the country early on Monday, bringing the potential for an exceptionally windy spell of weather. At the same time, persistent, heavy rain could cause some surface water flooding.

There is the potential for gusts of 60-80 mph quite widely and locally over 80 mph.

So if Mr DOM does not consider any or some are at risk, that we can refuse to go out if we consider it is dangerous? I thought that all the onus for H&S fell to us....make sure your bike is roadworthy, make sure you wear a helmet, don't do this or that or DO this that or the other Cos if you don't YOU will be held responsible.

You are correct - you are responsible for your Health and Safety.
So if trees are falling down or chimney pots and tiles, then you decide if it is safe to continue and if not, then you don't.
And Mr DOM can spit his dummy out if he wants but he can't do a damn thing.

Whilst delivering please walk on the side of the street where no debris is falling, ie: the same side as keeping out of sunlight in extreme hot weather....
