No - it depends on the reason for leaving. In most cases you would get the backdated bay, the shares depend on if you were a "Good leaver" or not.

Apparently not.
It's not as defined by RM/the Government in the prospectus.
Those who resign relinquish their shares I believe.

I have no idea - I know IHR, Redundancy and Retirement are all counted as "Good leavers", quitting your job may depend on the circumstances, after all if you are suspended for delay of mail and advised to resign would it be fair if they were guilty. Whereas quitting becaus you have another job, you'll probably be ok. Far too many variables to go into hence why I said "good Leaver" a term in the Shares booklet.

retirement is the one scenario whereby you dont have to pay any deductions and can have the proceeds immediately you hang up your mail bag....at least thats what im sure i read in all the bumf we have received.hope so anyway as i hit 65 next month

Read the Prospectus for facts .If you resign for any reason no shares for 5 years ,retired or death you still get your shares.
How many walking Postmen will still be hear in 5 years time?
