I've heard TNT don't have a redirection or keep safe service, when mail is posted to someone's old address/ address the customer with the redirection/ keep safe is just blaming RM. RM are also having to handle all unwanted,kill off and misdelivered mail that TNT should be responsible for.

that's one thing that gets up my nose, why the hell can`t we just bag up all the TNT kills offs and ship them off to them?

Two different possibilities here:

* TNT's DSA mail (licence number C910002) - kill-offs etc covered under their contract with RM so handled the same way as other DSA/meter/PPI kill-offs

* TNT's own end-to-end mail (licence number CL102) - any of these in our system (whether live or killed off) should be passed to Revenue Protection who raise a charge for the items and return them to TNT

Sounds a lot less than some of our lot are expecting. There's talk of the mail volume almost halving, the letters anyway.

Also rumours of door to doors easing due to alot of them being tnt. I didn't think it would be too different. From the sounds of it, it won't and we'll have to deal with alot of customers having a moan at us.

I really thought it would be more with the amount of DSA in the system.

Has all of your TNT DSA stopped or have they cherry picked ?

Because even if the volumes are dropping its still big money.

55,000,000 per day = 330,000,000 per week or 16,500,000,000 per year even if overall profit is as little as 1p per item thats £165,000,000 pa. kerching

Mail volume (which means volume of letters) might be falling but packets are going through the roof as is the profit to be made from delivering this packet mail. And cost of postage is also rising.

Example:

A street of 20 houses 10 years ago - 17 houses share 40 letters and one packet. Total stampage £12 for letters (30p first class) and £2 for packet = £14
Same street of 20 houses today - 15 houses share 30 letters and three packets. Total stampage of £18 for letters (60p first class) and £12 for packets = £30

So you can see how we can be making more profit despite the 'fall in mail volume'.

When you add into that calculation that tens of thousands of Posties jobs have gone since then and each Postie now delivers roughly 2X as much mail as 10 years ago you can see why we made $400Million profit last year.

TNT deliver to me. I simply kill it up " I do NOT accept deliveries from TNT" I usually add a bit about their lousy company then put it in the postbox.

What happens to this dross as I don't work for RM any more ?
