No - you buy Royal Mail Dr Martens on EBay.

The ones from the uniform store are FREE.

I would neither buy them, nor order them from stores, sadly DM's-now made in China-are not longer the excellent footwear they once were!

Go to your doctors and say your feet hurt and get a letter and then get the allowance and buy the footwear you need and want!

I presume the DMs you buy online at £50 plus are still decent? I used to wear them all the time as a kid, excellent piece of kit.

I can understand RM buying the cheap crap from China, remember your kit has been supplied by the lowest bidder!

I can never understand WHY RM place such little importance on supplying there Front Line Delivery Staff (most covering at least 10 miles a day) with decent footwear?

Surely in the long term it would save them money, protecting their staff from walking related strains & sprains.

Iconic Northamptonshire footwear company Dr Martens is on the verge of being bought by a private equity firm, according to reports.

The Wollaston-based company is in talks with Permira - owners of Hugo Boss and New Look.
Current owners of Dr Martens, R Griggs Group, is said to be in ‘advanced negotiations’ about a deal that could be tied up as soon as next month.
The cost to Permira has not been made public but sources say it will be around £300m.
If the deal is confirmed, Permira would take control of R Griggs Group but may only acquire a licence to use the Dr Martens name, with the family retaining outright ownership of the brand.

Not a good idea when a new company is allowed to use an established brand name. It happened at a company I used to work for. We were a leading top end manufacturer and had a brilliant reputation, product and customers service. When we were bought out my an "Investment Group" read "Asset Strippers"

All they wanted was the name. Then they tried to buy in cheap crap products from Spain and sell them using the name. Surprise Surprise a few of the old faithful customers continued to buy the Brand and then returned them all because they were CRAP!

I believe the brand name has now been moth balled and doesn't actually manufacture anything. Customers aren't as stupid as some of the Assholes think they are!

You're sure about that are you - presumably you have some evidence to back it up?

You have the option of buying British made DM's as opposed to the Chinese ones - but they are around £70 a pair more, there's a 'Made in England' section on the website.

If RM didn't go with the lowest bidder in each case then questions need to be asked about quality monitoring. None of the kit works, none. The storm proof can't cope with a summer shower, the CAT trainers are useless in the wet and last 8 weeks tops, the kagoule soaks up water, and the trouser button last about 2 weeks, in fact I now reinforce the button every time I get new ones.

Are these different CAT trainers to those that the catalogue says are "Fabric / textile upper therefore not suitable for wear in wet weather"?
