special question

hiya guys had a problem with a special saturday got it off the locker and on arrival hed given me the same named road for a different postcode about 20 mins drive from the walk i was on. not wanting to bother management i went to delivery this special put the postcode in on my phone and off i went on arrival the postcode took me to 19 i was after 119. no where to be seen was 119 .

i realised there was another same named street abot 10 minutes away similar postcode took it here hoping id get an answer panicking abit as that 1pm came up. on arrival noone in so i left a forms left and thought this was the address and took special back to the office.

now i have big doubts having looked on the computer the postcode was definatly in the first area i tried. having doubts i drove up tonite no sign of the 119 i wanted

where do i stand with this

Contact the locker staff first thing in the morning
Everyone makes mistakes
As long as everyone is in the loop it can be sorted easily
Also helps if your lino is decent and has experience of being a postie themselves

This should be lesson learnt. If the address is in anyway incomplete, do not assume responsibility, return to sender always

thanks for the reply guys should of really just thought ive be given it wrong and rang the locker tried to take things into my own hands being agood worker backfired i suppose .

like i said postcode took me to 19 i was after 119 and couldnt find it anywhere so i tried the same named road in the same potcode area slight change on the last bit of the postcode so i noticed left here

Someone I worked with once had a dilemma a bit similar to this

Whilst the locker messed up by giving him a special for another walk, he still got a bit of verbal from the manager for not checking it properly before leaving, but nothing serious. Considering in your case all that was different was the postcode i'd say you've got nothing to worry about.

If you find yourself in this situation and unable to attempt delivery for whatever reason, the advice i've had is to scan it as 'inaccessible', and then it doesn't count as a fail.

I'd tell the whole story to the locker staff 1st thing Monday, sounds like you did the best you could in the circumstances and the item is still secure and not actually delivered by you to an incorrect address, even if the P739 ended up through the wrong letterbox.

I had a similar situation some time ago - had a special with a scribbly address, impossible to tell if it was for no 116 or 110, and there was no name on it. I coered my back by asking dom for instruction before i went out, and ended up leaving a P739 at one of the addresses as neither place had anyone at home, then explained all to locker staff on return and left them to deal with it.

Like you say though, a lesson learnt - I always thoroughly check every special as they hand it to me - some get huffy that i'm holding up a queue but it only takes a few seconds to make sure - so many just blindly grab, sign and head for the door!
