Postie A v Postie B

Post by feduppostie »

ok let me introduce two 'postie's'

Postie A Full timer, union member

Postie B Full timer, union member

Postie A comes in early every day, doesn't take breaks, runs around delivery, finishes early takes lapsing

Postie B comes in on their time, takes full break, walks at a steady pace finished on time/over on a busy day doesn't take lapsing

Postie A Thinks postie B is slow and lazy and a moaner and if they pulled their finger out could do their lapsing

Postie B Thinks Postie A is the cause of many problems in the office, asks Postie A why don't you come in on time, take breaks, stop running

Postie A answers nothing to do with you what I choose to do is none of your business

Postie B But if you didn't do all these things we wouldn't have to lapse - you make the rest of us look bad

Postie A Does not get challenged by managers as they never book and take their lapsing

Postie B Constantly challenged by managers as they book o/t and don't take lapsing as no time

Postie A is going to strike for as long as it takes - thinks anyone who doesn't is beyond comtempt

Postie B is going into work - thinks if people can't even work properly to protect jobs during the year why should I lose money by striking?

Postie A Thinks Postie B is disgusting why can't they support the union and their colleagues

Postie B Thinks if Postie A can't be bothered to support the union and his colleagues throughout the year not much point doing it now

A very simplified version of what is happening in my office at the minute - Discuss

Postie A is just the typical.

Yes, why bother striking for 'unrealistic efficiency demands' when your colleagues are helping along with management to create and make the problem worse for those that want to do the job properly...

Fair days work for a fair day pay and pay increase is nothing when folks are working for nothing and creating stress and sometimes bullying and harassment for their colleagues.

And it is usually the very loud-mouthed one :arrrghhh

Discuss? Not much to discuss really, despite the long winded scenario Postman B gambles his future on the work practice of Postman A. So should the strike fail due to lack of support Postman B finds himself running to achieve Postman As work or faces dismissal. Not what I would call an informed decision but hey each to his own.

Be careful chrisj going off topic there.

As for foisting an opinion.............does it really take 22 lines per post to express your biased view?

Would that not be one of the reasons why we have the Union? Unfair dismissal and bullying and harassment

The above scenario will still go on. It Postman A that you should blame because Postman B is suffering as it is and the Union should have done and be doing something about this issue. It is time they act.

If the Performance target is based on Postman A then it is not only Postman B that will be affected. Wrong argument - typical

I thought it would be postie A working during a strike and postie B striking because i am certainly a postie B,and will be striking if it goes ahead!

We do have a union but it requires support to be successful and that's how terms and conditions are protected. Yes chrisj you did well to extrapolate that PostmanB won't be the only one to be affected but he obviously doesn't see the same big picture you do.

And what has that got to do with the topic - unless PostmanB plays for the same team.

In my experience, and if you can generalise about these things, Postie B would be striking, and Postie A isn't even in the Union.
