RESIDENTS in Wareham face a shake-up of deliveries over the coming weeks.

Royal Mail says it is introducing changes to make delivery routes more efficient as fewer letters are being posted but it is handling more larger items.

It will phase in revamped routes in the BH20 postcode areas from the middle of October onwards.

Postmen and women will continue to deliver in the morning and for a longer period during the day.

Royal Mail says that many customers will continue to get mail by lunchtime but the time will depend on where they live on the new delivery route. It may be later or possibly earlier than current delivery times.

A spokesman said: “Royal Mail will be doing everything possible to maintain a high level of service.”

We were told P&L was cheaper and more efficient than the system it replaced.

It wasn't in writing BF.......`Friend of a Friend, but I believe his "Report". That particular DO has a lot of Older, Experienced Posties and I'm sure they'll be using the correct methods & practices during the initial assesment period. Don't know many Posties that like the Van share system, somebody's always waiting for someone!

Ok - can't comment on a specific DO but I don't think that overall delivery method revisions are proving to be more expensive than before

It's the initial bedding in phase that causes most problems. For starters Posties don't like change and I suppose it's natural that there's some resentment to changing their duties. This results in people doing the job "Properly", to prove a point. And as we know this takes time, when no one's cutting corners and 739ing packets instead of doorstepping etc....suddenly the true length of duties appear and with it the Overtime claimed. Plus some of these duties may be too long and that's what needs to be assessed.
