I heard our two union reps going on about the strike this morning to a load of gaffers in our office and from what I can gather the strike starts at 2pm on November 4th and runs into Tuesday the 5th November 2pm Anybody else heard this or can confirm it? I'm not off till the Friday that week so will fall for a right load of crap all week.

Yes, "important letter" received today from Dave and Billy says "we will hold a 24 hour strike on the 4th November" which surely suggests midnight to midnight.

In fact a 2pm strike means no Monday evening collection from firms and boxes. Mo mail sorted in the mail centre. no delivery next day and no next day dinner time collection.

Whether the 2pm start is a good idea or not - it doesn't fit with what the CWU have been saying. They want a demo in London on Sunday with as many posties as possible going. For that to happen they wouldn't want deliveries or MCs working Sunday night/Monday morning as it will affect the turn out.

If we are guessing I think its going to be a start of late shift Sunday to Start of Late shift Monday.

Well if thats the supposed strike plan its going to cause issues, it will mean i will have to turn up at 2pm on the tuesday till 2.40pm but one of my breaks is the last 20 mins of duty, so i go in for 20 mins? lol

You won't know till the day itself. Even in a strong area I would expect RM to pre-position mail in DOs on the Saturday (with manager drivers and docket chasers), in less strong areas the mail will still be moving into Delivery Offices and between MCs. It will all be guesswork till the Tuesday morning - do what I do go in expecting to be rammed, which will be better anyway as you won't be able to do it all in your time and then the managers need to make decisions.
