How much can you afford to lose in wages?

First of all I am not a scab, Voted yes and I will be taking part in the upcoming IA.
However I am interested to know how far some of the board members here are prepared to go?, for every strike day we are losing between 60 and 70 pounds, money you will not get back, 7 strike days equals close on 500 big ones, anything over that and some people are going to be in financial strife.
I am comfortable, but I don`t like throwing my money away . any payrise we get could be nullified for up to a year while you get your financies back to where they were pre-strike.

Nobody likes losing money but if Moya has her way you will be on minimum wage sooner than you think.

In order to ensure I will have a fairly well-paid job for at least the next 5-10 years, I will make whatever sacrifice is necessary to achieve that.
We really do need to start looking towards the long-term future. Short-term, really is just that...short-term.

I cannot afford to lose anything, wife, kids, house, car etc.

But... we cannot afford to do nothing! We have to get an agreement and if a strike is what's needed then bring it on! Will have to juggle my finances for a while but will survive, may even have to borrow a bit to get me through.

Doing nothing is not an option, when I see the fat cat's getting millions, whilst we struggle by.

They can draw up new contracts anytime they want now that we are privatised. Happened before in other industries and will happen to us with or without strikes.

You can always do OT both before and after IA to make up the money.

If you already do lots of OT and will still struggle due to IA you are living beyond your means, cancel your Sky TV.

No rep gets paid on strike days and most reps do a lot of work on strike days such as organising the picket line , attending other picket lines in their branch , doing media interviews and attending other demos.

All CWU officers donate their wages for the strike day to the welfare fund which is their for members who are in financial hardship.
