What low turnout?

To those moaning about how low the turnout was or how low the yes vote was these are the figures from today's ballot...

Yes: 56339 (78% )
No: 15624 (22%)
Turnout: 63%

And these are from the ballot for national industrial action in 2009.

Yes: 61623 (76.2%)
No: 19207 (23.8%)
Turnout 67%

Not a great deal of difference.

5% are lazy to vote
5% are shareholders who don't vote
5% are too lazy to update address for Union/Royal Mail due to relocation.
so what about the rest.

The turnout in the last general election was 65.1%, in our last local election it was 28%, and in our Police and Crime Commissioner election it was 13%!

63% sounds pretty good to me.

P.S. The 13% turnout for the PCC election was heralded as a triumph for democracy by the government. So no more...

A third of union members couldn't be arsed to tick a box even when knowing how important it was. Why pay to be in the union if your not willing to do even that tiny thing?
