If the ballot paper are counted as they arrive they must have an idea of how people have voted ?

they probably do, but if they published that there was a big yes majority then a lot of people might not bother sending in their vote as it would seem that the vote had already been "won" and as such the turn out would be lower than it should be which is what they dont want, its better to get a resounding yes with a 85% turn out than a less resounding yes(but yes never the less) with a 40% turnout

2 reasons.

1. They want the first strike to be as big as possible. Even the Breakfast Club will think twice before going in.

2. Apparently there are murmurings of getting as many posties as possible in a big demo to try and make an impact, and the news.

The week after the 26th is half term,alot of people will be on leave.
What do you think the turnout and yes/no will be?
I'll start it off, 65% turnout - 78% Yes 22% No. :whistle
I don't think it will be as big as some think, I hope it's bigger than I think :chuckle

Why vote against your future employment?

It has to be a large YES vote. If not, I'd like to know a regional breakdown coz there is no feckin way half of London votes no, while all of Scotland vote YES, but the outcome is no change!
