ballot result
Next Wednesday is the closing day for votes to come in, will we hear the result the same day? Can't remember what happened last time.

If what i was told today is true, & the union get a massive yes vote, then i think the members will be suitably satisfied with the outcome.

Though, probably before, I mean, why wait?
Unless RM and the CWU enter into new talks with the result in mind.....

If there is an overwhelming yes vote, there'll be no strike, as 7 yr deal has been agreed.

The union will have no basis for bargaining with the company in any negotiations.
RM would likely reduce their previous position/offer to a much less favourable one than has been on the table and rejected, and the CWU would put it to vote.
They may have to re-ballot for IA if that deal was to be rejected, but RM will figure we have no stomach for a fight, so would be unlikely to budge.
So you're right, it would be unthinkable.
I think it will be a yes, though I'm not as confident as Hayes/Ward appear to be that it will be a massive yes. Which would be best for us.
So, I hope I'm wrong. If they get 75/80%, it would be good.

If this was true, then the ballot result would be irrelevant.
If the union and the company had agreed a 7 year deal, then the IA ballot would be withdrawn, and the new deal put to members for a vote.
Where did you get this info?

I have no idea why there is an insistence that there be a time limit set on terms and conditions, no one in this land has a cast iron guarantee that any business structure will survive long enough to ensure T and Cs will not be changed over a given period - 3 years in my mind is not sustainable let alone 5, 7 or 10. Providing that no changes would take place without agreement, which can only be discussed when the circumstances are known.
