Well, it is strange but that is the nature of institutionalisation... And self-centred and naive approach...

So the CWU wants me, a part-timer - already towards the bottom of the food chain to go on strike just before xmas* for a minor (pro-rata) pay increase and hardly any advance in pension entitlement, forgo £350.00 bonus, lose days wages so that we can continue to maintain the status quo for a bunch of FT staff (mainly that cannot see pass their nose).

If the CWU is not ready to start a vigorous campaign to encourage their members to do the job properly - thereby not working for nothing sometimes and actually maintaining more jobs - then they can stuff the Strike Action.

I will advice most part-timers that are currently being disadvantaged, being disrespected by managers and senior colleagues, being sh** on and being made to 'carry' some of the lazy ones in delivery to vote with their feet. NO!

The CWU need to do something more for part-timers and many now on temporary contracts. The lessers T&C is not something that is going to happen because of privatisation - it is already happening.

If which i dont think you have done 20yrs you would be more qualified to persuade people.The reason your part time is this company has over the last few years, by fair means or foul(in my case) targeted full timers with upward of 15yrs + .This has saved the company millions in projected future pensions.In my particular case i would estimate around £50-60 thousand pounds.If you think this company gives a F*** you ask any full timer whats the chances of you being given a f/t permanent contract and watch them fall over in fits of laughter.The next cull of staff hopefully (corrupt Management ) who have been paid some serious bonus payments will get there just rewards.This will make the way in which evidence was fabricated,all the colluding,and the perjury,which took place in getting me dismissed .If your still not convinced you go in for your £300 its money youve never had so you dont miss it.

What he said. Basically buying a house with boarding kennels included on the property. The 1 we looked at had 12 kennels, which were fully booked thru the year, and it was roughly £30 a day plus extra if they stayed overnight and needed extra food etc, so thats £360 a day, £2000 a week! And basically all I would have to do is walk dogs for maybe 3 hours a day, and clean up poop. If the house is in the right location, this was in the country near a stream and woods, its perfect. People will always have dogs, people will always like holidays abroad, people will always need dog kennels - we where just short of the funds and it would have left us stretched, so we decided to wait 3 years until we are in a better position

Going on Strike is not about being macho. It is about being convinced and then taking a personal view.

Unless the CWU do certain things then they do not have my support for a Strike. I stand to gain very little from the Strike. I will not want to piggy-back on other people's effort but that is the way things are.

I am a part-timer and no one is really looking after my interests... Simple!

When people start doing the job properly and stop taking the piss then I might have a different opinion.

Lastly, a few in my office will not be striking. And after I discovered that the very senior gobs**tes in the office have been regular strike breaker and arse licker, there is even less incentive.

Well there are a number of reasons, not least of all the fight for T&Cs which could only be attempted when privatisation was the here and now issue and the offer was on the table - why are you so concerned about Christmas, frightened of losing some tips? The fact of the matter is Christmas is a great time to strike the traffic is much greater and will be log jammed much quicker - there is no danger of agency staff because they can't employ people to do our work whilst we are legitimately on strike. If you don't want to support the strike then don't and I too am part time.
